Accurately identifying rebar, post-tension cables, conduits or any other target embedded within concrete structures prior to drilling, cutting, or coring, is essential. Paying for greater detail and accuracy than you need is not. Ground penetrating Radar (GPR) provides a safe, quick and accurate method for identifying pre-and post-tensioned cables, rebar and metallic/non-metallic conduit.

Ground penetrating Radar (GPR) uses radio waves to penetrate concrete and return reflected signals to reveal the subsurface layout of a structure. It is a faster and cost saving method for a great variety of project conditions.

WE KNOW THE BEST TEST METHODS FOR YOUR SPECIFIC PROJECT NEEDS

Inspection Resources has both GPR and X-Ray equipment in-house, we work with clients to determine the optimal testing method for each test location. This way we are able to provide the level of detail required at the most cost-effective price point, with the responsiveness and cost savings of a single source vendor.

CONCRETE IMAGING IS WHAT WE DO EVERY DAY!

Ground penetrating radar / GPR equipment manufacturers have been marketing their equipment to many construction companies that do not specialize in this service significantly over the past few years, resulting in a glut of firms offering GPR services, with operators having very little scanning experience and also who over-sell the capabilities of GPR.

Beware! Your test result is only as good as the operator. Your risk increases significantly when the operator lacks training or has little field experience using GPR equipment.

IR TECHNICIANS HAVE AN ESTABLISHED REPUTATION FOR ACCURACY

Accuracy of a technician’s interpretation of results makes all the difference!

Stick with a firm like iR that staffs certified operators. Most of our field staff have well over 5 years of experience and our newer technicians are trained for a minimum of one year under their direct supervision. CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

GPR vs. X-RAY

Most companies out there that provide ONLY GPR scanning services are over-selling the capabilities of GPR when it comes to positively differentiating between rebar and post-tension cables in concrete.

Through our extensive experience, we understand that while GPR is very reliable in locating most of the elements within a given structure, GPR will not provide the level of detail and certainty that may be required in highly congested areas where it is critical to know the difference.

If the demands of your project require that higher level of confidence, you will want to consider Concrete X-Ray Imaging Services as an option. Our staff is here to help you choose the correct method while being conscious of the project demands AND your budget constraints.
